The sausage ball recipe I was planning to do calls for ‘all purpose baking mix’. What? I don’t buy baking mixes…..I don’t have pancake mix or biscuit mix or any of that sort of thing. What should I mix (ie, flour, sugar, etc) to use in place of it?

Basic All-Purpose Baking Mix
6 cups all purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 1/4 cups vegetable shortening (butter-flavored or plain)
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Store in a container with tight-fitting lid. Will keep for up to 2 months.
you could use bisquik, it’s all purpose baking mix, you can use it to make almost anything.
go buy some.
Getting the combo of yeast, flour, salt and sugar right for your purpose is not worth the effort and the potential for ucky tasting mucky pasty food is high.
9 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/3 cups powdered milk
1 tablespoon salt
1/3 cup baking powder
2 cups shortening
If you don’t have powdered milk, you can use regular milk. Just multiply the powdered milk measurement by 8, to get the proper measurement of milk. But then you have to account for the extra water you added in the milk, so take 7/8 of the milk measurement and subtract that from the amount of water you’re going to add. It’s complicated. I know.
