i used to play with billy joe royal and we did several shows with tommy roe.
I remember it well! Not only was there a beautiful neighborhood girl named Sheila that I loved and wanted to sing this song to, but, this song was cutting edge, high energy rock & roll in 1962.
I was still a bit young but this music made my wedding package package throb, and I knew I wanted to rub it up against some girls!
My Father named me after this song!! Gotta love it!!
Great memories. I had the good fortune to see Tommy Roe in concert in 1962. He topped the bill at the Liverpool Empire. Also on that bill was Chris Montez (of Let’s Dance fame) who was also terrific and a local group called the Beatles.
@mischievouspineapple: Well, one of the reasons that you may love it is that it’s as if it was lifted straight out of Buddy Holly’s note pad. You can’t wrong imitating Buddy–a young Lennon and McCartney used him as their mentor as well and as is evident in many of their early creations.

What year was this concert? Look like early 80’s.
