Roe v. Wade in PBS’ The Supreme Court

In 1973, the Supreme Court delivers its opinion on abortion. With Roe v. Wade, states can no longer intervene in the abortion question decided between the patient and her doctor exclusively.

Thank you. I think it is important to promote useful dialogue from all sides and I appreciate you taking the time to participate in it.

YouTube doesn’t allot me the amount of words I would need to express my views without running the risk of being completely misunderstood. I’ll send you a detailed message when I get some time.

It’s nice that you actually have questions. I’m used to dealing with radicals that have no idea what they are talking about and equip themselves with a list of “one-liners” to get by. I’ll respond as soon as I can.

  • kbodde

I disagree but I was hoping you would answer a few questions about it so I could understand it better. What is your stance on the separation between church and state? What do you think about tolerating a lesser moral transgression (as you understand it) in order to avoid greater suffering or in order to promote a greater good? What do you think of sexual intercourse when a woman is infertile or unable to become pregnant (menop., etc)?send me a message if you dont have enough space. thanks.

    @kbodde

Some of us don’t consider contraception a solution i.e. faithful Roman Catholics.

  • RabidRahker

Hiring a hitman to kill the unborn makes me angry… so sorry. I don’t care if the pregancy is unwanted. Babies are easily placed in adopted homes. Just because the poor girl’s education might be interruped, or some other inane excuse, doesn’t justify the death of the unborn.

  • kbodde

Instead of immediately polarizing the conversation with language that sounds angry and places people on the defensive, it would be helpful to focus on the common ground – both sides wish to reduce unwanted pregnancies – solutions to this: sex education and contraception access. I am saying this to encourage useful dialogue.

Abortion is largely a convenience issue. The poor woman’s life could be interrupted, such a tragedy! I guess the kid has to die.Over half of abortions today are repeaters (not the woman’s first). There have been 700,000 murders in the U.S. since Roe v Wade, unless you include abortions, then it’s 50,700,000.

what about my cousin who was brutally raped and had to have an abortion? was she “fucking willy-nilly”? Easy to throw stones when you dont have empathy, isnt it?

  • SatansMullet

@13nyarlathotep haha, thats so true. if i rape someone not only should she have to deal with the horror of having her pussy ripped to pieces by my dick, but she should also have to carry MY cum in her belly for 9 months till she fully ruins her pussy by pushing out a fuckin SPACE ALIEN! AND THEN she can give it up for adoption if she wants though, to which she will have trama and depresssion for the rest of her life. thats REALLY how it should be! and anyone who says othererwise IS A KILLER! LOL

  • pappirrr

im not saying that when you have a child, that your life is over, but many mothers who had a child at early age they get depressed because they missed out a huge part of their life. “I don’t have sex without thinking about the consequences whore!! ” i bet you dont have sex at all. now im going to do something better with my time than to reply to a jerk.

  • pappirrr

now i assume that you are a male and so you don’t really understand or care how much time and energy it takes to take care of a child. what would you do if someone would rape you and you had a baby inside of you. You would not have the choice to abort it or to keep it, you would have to keep it. and you are maybe 15 years old. It would take much longer time for you to educate.you have to think for both partners, the mother and the baby. sometimes the mothers cant take enough care of their child

    @13nyarlathotep
I have sex with whatever guy I feel like having sex with. Love has little to do with it. Isn’t that what guys do? Have sex with anything with a vagina? Guys never think about the consequences of sex that’s why we have so many venerial diseases running around. Also the woman doesn’t get pregnant if the guy doesn’t come. He should have control over that.

  • 13nyarlathotep

Slut! what about only having sex with men you love? Isn’t that what women do, have sex with men they love, and call the guys who love them friends? Women don’t love guys as friends, they just wish some of their friends weren’t guys. That’s why you cunts killed chivalry.

  • 13nyarlathotep

I don’t fuck willy-nilly. abot=rtion is more cowardly than a drive-by! I don’t have sex without thinking about the consequences whore!!

  • ScaryCannibalTrout1

You guys who are against abortions better be wearing condoms EVERY TIME you have sex. I take birth control because I can’t expect men to be responsible, so I’m taking responsability. Isn’t that the history of the sexes!

  • wills24

Hey Pwells at this moment in time more women died each year from illegal abortions then americans killed in Vietnam.

  • 303Erika

So, if we base the need for legal abortions on the fact that they would happen anyways, should we have the same policy for illegal drugs, underage drinking, rape, incest, and molestation? They are illegal right now, but still happening. Perhaps we ought to legalize them also?

  • Pwells1

“Then, you would have unregulated, unsafe abortion practices, far more dangerous than what we are faced with now. ”

You have a point bryon, sort of. But in order to fight for that point, in order to not be hypocritical, we’d have to legalize all illegal drugs as well, because regulated drugs would be “safer” than illegal drugs.

    Is that what you want?

  • blizzard7006

and what aboutt eh ones who are forced to open their skanky legs by rapist and pedophiles??? Surely you would want to bring a child in a world where it’s father is unknown and a pig.

  • bryonawhite

Perhaps you should place aside your fundamental reasoning…Did you ever stop to think that if abortions were made to be illegal, that women would still get them anyways? Then, you would have unregulated, unsafe abortion practices, far more dangerous than what we are faced with now. Think about it…Crack is illegal, yet still an epidemic.

  • msm318

I guess Blackburn’s wife and three daughters were vile whores. That is clear. Go fuck anybody and you can kill your baby…..makes sense. Is it too much to ask that you keep your skanky legs shut?

  • msm318

No No……Why can’t a woman kill her baby so she can be a lawyer or a doctor……or not be fat in a bikini????? What is wrong with you people??? Baby rights don’t exist. The whore can kill it for any reason. And she can do so any number of times. Do you have a problem with that????

  • JackPhelpswho

Abortion needs to be legasl, millions of women died because they sought dangerous methods when it was illegal, making abortions illegal will just cause more pain, and it will set women’s rights back, no woman should be forced to have a baby, and don’t say then she shouldn’t have had sex, because men have sex too, and are not forced to stay, and no amount of child support will ever equate to raising a child

  • wurlitzer78

    bottom line abortion is murder
what about the little women babys right in the belly
    evil
    pure evil

  • bushnest

Yes, the government should be the one to determine if an embryo is really a baby. If the government shouldn’t be able to determine that and act accordingly, let’s totally take the government out of the job of protecting people from murder altogether. Let’s remove the laws saying that your life shouldn’t be protected! Ad Nauseum!
