Judge Doom Dips a Shoe

One of the most chilling scenes I’ve ever seen, and it’s of Christopher Lloyd executing a cartoon character. Judge Doom is one crazy mofo.

@sam00722 actually they exploited how far they could go with the PG rating with this movie, back then PG 13 wasn’t invented yet, the violence and inuendo and minor swearing and frightening scenes. so far the only thing keeping it from going too far was the word fuck.

turpentine is a paint thinner, paint which is what gives toons color, acetone is a nailpolish remover, polish is what gives the cartoon a shine look you see in the 80s and 90s, and benzene is a film dissolvant, film cells are what have been used for animation before computers were relied on, so logically if cartoons existed in the real world that would be the only way to kill them.

This scene didn’t bother me much as a kid. It was the ending where Judge Doom had the red eyes that freaked me out.
This scene with the shoe, the Jessica Rabbit innuendos, the profanity, and the Judge Doom with red eyes is all evidence to me that the MPAA really screwed up in rating this movie PG. It should have been PG-13 and only viewed by those 14 and older.

This scene never really scared me as a kid, and it still doesn’t.

so i always left the room when this scene was on and know that i see it for the second time… IT STILL MAKES ME CRY IN TERROR

I heard that Judge Doom was originally going to be the hunter who shot Bambi’s mom.

he really was the most… if not a close second to… the most evil villains in a movie… christopher lloyd gave me nightmares after this movie…

    @shaun180381 ,
kids who watched this, kids of MY generation (1983-1987) learned how to be tough watching stuff like this. Disturbing, hell yes, but it showed us how to face fear. What could kids pobbibly learn from Jonas Brothers or twilight?

  • shaun180381

Yep, still disturbing, must be because I was 8 when I first saw this, seeing the shoe thrash around and scream as it dies, not really something for kids to watch now is it?

He’s the Judge in ToonTown. They have no say in what he declares as justice!

If you know the story behind his origins, you wouldn’t be surprised on why he did that.

  • foofwolf22

Why did nobody stop him from killing the shoe? Buncha pussies.

  • foofwolf22

To this day I still kinda HATE Christopher Lloyd….

  • foofwolf22

I agree. This scene is grossly disturbing to me and frankly, at 25, i still have a hard time watching it.

For some bizarre reason, when I watched this as a kid, I actually found this scene to be very mesmerising, id always rewind and watch it again, looking back at it, it does have dark elements to it, in retrospect, it probably wasn’t a good idea to place a scene like this in a kids movie.

does this come off as kind of hard to believe for anyone else? There’s a murder investigation for a toon killing a man, but a man kills a toon and nobody bats an eye?
Admittedly since pre-’dip’ there was no method of killing them, it’s reasonable that nobody bothered to make it illegal… but you’d think… all those police.. would be like ‘hey.. stop’

Jar0fdirt63: Apparently, you’ve never heard of Raze’s Hell, where the object of the game is to kill cute, cuddly creatures. Of course, they’re hell-bent on exterminating all life on the planet, so I guess it doesn’t really count. :P

And then there’s Happy Tree Friends. if this made you sick, then you don’t wanna see what goes on in HTF land.

  • BoonDockshinobi

I felt so bad for this shoe. :(
